Photographer-led

Kaziranga’s vast grasslands, wetlands and tropical forests offer an extraordinary range of wildlife photography opportunities. Best known for the greater one-horned rhinoceros, the park is also home to elephants, wild water buffalo, swamp deer, tigers and remarkable birdlife.

Across six jeep safaris, Team Safari Crafters will guide you in reading animal behaviour, anticipating movement, working with changing light and composing wildlife within its natural landscape. Field mentoring covers shutter speed, aperture and ISO, with an emphasis on patient observation and responsible photography.

A visit to Hollongapar Gibbon Wildlife Sanctuary adds a forest experience to this five-day expedition, with opportunities to explore the habitat of India’s only apes.

Highlights

  • Six jeep safaris in Kaziranga, including a final morning safari before departure
  • A visit to Hollongapar Gibbon Wildlife Sanctuary
  • Field mentoring in animal behaviour, light, camera settings and composition
  • Four nights of accommodation and return Guwahati Airport transfers

Expedition rhythm

Day 01Arrival, briefing and welcome dinner

Arrive at Guwahati Airport and transfer by road to Kaziranga. Check in, settle in and meet the expedition team. A welcome dinner and briefing introduce the itinerary, photography approach, field etiquette and wildlife photography ethics.

Photography tour questions

Before you set out.

Dates, equipment and what to expect on your photography tour.

Which flights should I book?

Return transfers from Guwahati Airport are included. Plan to arrive between 10:00 AM and 12:00 PM on 24 March 2027. For 28 March, choose a departure after 7:00 PM, preferably after 8:00 PM, to allow for the final safari and road transfer. Coordinate flight timings with Safari Crafters before booking because travel times can vary.

How much walking is involved?

Most photography takes place on jeep safaris. The Gibbon Sanctuary visit may include forest walking, subject to permitted routes and local conditions. Bring comfortable walking shoes and leech socks, and be comfortable with early starts, extended vehicle time and carrying your camera equipment.

What else should I pack?

Bring government-issued photo ID, personal medication, toiletries, sunscreen, sunglasses and a reusable water bottle. Pack lightweight full-sleeve clothing, comfortable trousers, closed shoes and a light jacket for early safaris. Bring rain protection if the forecast requires it.

Can the itinerary change?

Wildlife sightings depend on animal movement, weather and field conditions. Safari zones, schedules and activities may change for operational, regulatory or safety reasons. Follow the expedition team and local guides, and photograph responsibly without disturbing wildlife or habitats.

When does this tour depart?

The next departure is 24 – 28 Mar 2027. See the departure list for other available dates.

What photography experience do I need?

Guided wildlife photography and field mentoring. Share your experience and goals with the team so they can confirm whether this tour is suitable for you.

What equipment should I bring?

24–70mm for landscapes and environmental images; 70–200mm for wildlife portraits; 400mm or 600mm for distant subjects. Bring spare batteries, memory cards, a lens-cleaning kit, dust cover and a comfortable camera backpack. Binoculars are optional.

Are wildlife sightings guaranteed?

Wildlife moves freely. Sightings depend on animal behaviour, weather and conditions in the field and cannot be guaranteed.
