A landscape with no need to perform.

Pench Tiger Reserve, spanning the borders of Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra, is a visually rewarding and deeply evocative wildlife landscape in central India. Bisected by the Pench River, the reserve’s gently undulating terrain creates a varied mosaic of grasslands, wooded slopes, and rocky outcrops, an environment that famously inspired Rudyard Kipling’s The Jungle Book and continues to stir the imagination. Renowned for consistent tiger sightings, Pench is also home to Leopards, Sloth Bears, Dholes, Gaur, and a rich assemblage of deer, supported by a strong and resilient ecosystem. With over 300 bird species, the forest remains animated at every hour.

Pench is a teak-dominated forest of river channels, old village clearings and the wider Totladoh water system. Its fauna includes tiger, leopard, wild dog, gaur and a diverse bird community that changes with season.

The reserve is approached through distinct gates on the Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra sides. A well-built itinerary begins with the permit, then chooses the lodge and transfer, avoiding the common mistake of treating every Pench address as equally close to every safari zone.
