Detailed itinerary

Arrive in India’s capital and settle in before your journey into the Terai begins. Your naturalist will conduct a brief orientation outlining upcoming landscapes, species, and logistics.

Travel to Jim Corbett National Park, India’s oldest tiger reserve. Its mix of riverine belts, dense sal forests, and wide grasslands offers ideal habitats for Bengal Tigers, Leopards, and Elephants. Morning and afternoon jeep safaris take you through varying terrain, increasing chances of sightings. Corbett’s rivers support rich birdlife and crocodilians, while quiet forest trails reveal signs of movement from Jackals, Deer, and other mammals.

Continue to Rajaji National Park, where the foothills of the Himalayas meet sweeping grasslands. The park’s mosaic of riverine and sal forests supports Tigers, Leopards, and India’s largest Elephants herds. Open areas provide excellent photographic opportunities of ungulates such as Swamp Deer and Wild Boar. Birders enjoy sightings of hornbills, woodpeckers, and raptors patrolling the valleys.

Move into the quieter, less-visited wilderness of Philibit. Its forests and fields hold Leopards, Jungle Cats, Hyenas, and rich bird diversity. Safaris here focus on tracking signs, observing behavior, and exploring landscapes shaped by human–wildlife coexistence. The gentle pace allows for immersive nature photography and meaningful time in the field.

End your journey in the biodiverse expanses of Dudhwa National Park. Explore tall grasslands, wetlands, and dense sal forests on boat and jeep safaris. Look for endangered Swamp Deer, Marsh Crocodiles, and birdlife that thrives around its river systems. Trails occasionally reveal signs of Tigers and Leopards moving through the undergrowth. Evenings are reserved for debriefings, stargazing, or relaxed time in the lodge.

More Information

The journey through the Terai and Shivaliks unfolds as a gradual passage through some of India’s most dynamic ecosystems. Jim Corbett National Park sets the tone with dramatic river valleys and evocative dawn choruses, where tigers move silently through sal forests and elephants appear along riverbanks without warning. In Rajaji National Park, the landscape opens into grasslands and wooded slopes, with the possibility of encountering leopards in their feral Shivalik habitat amid bird-rich sal forests.

The experience deepens at Pilibhit Tiger Reserve, where tall grasslands and quiet forest corridors offer a genuine chance of spotting a tiger moving through dense vegetation, an intimate and memorable sight unique to this landscape. The journey concludes at Dudhwa National Park, where wetlands and towering grasses reflect a world shaped by monsoon rhythms and seasonal migrations. Together, these reserves reveal the larger story of the Terai: a vital wildlife corridor experienced with depth, comfort, and unhurried immersion.
